Soft peach nursery

Hello everybody, I’m back again with the moodboard for a girls nursery. Last week I showed you the boy version I made for my expected niece or nephew and today it’s time to get in some pastel pink mood with you. 1 Don’t you think this Bambi is so very cute? It’s a wall lamp from Ferm Living via Kids with flair. I believe it’s an eyecatcher for every nursery! 2 The little balls are lights. Hanging in the corner or at the ceiling these would make a lovely decoration. I wanna have them myselve but I promised myself to save a little money and spent less… 3 Harlequin wallpaper from Ferm Living via Femkeido. 4 Cushions from Present Time. 5 Honeycombs balls from Engelpunt. 6 Cushion from Ferm Living. 7 Little coat rack from Pakhuis Oost. 8 This sophisticated crib would be a real jewel in a nursery. It’s from Oeuf NYC. 9 The rabbit is a cute little lamp. 10 Doll house from Ferm Living. 11 My little girl has this same name sticker in her room, in this same beautiful peach color. It’s from my own Studio Haikje collection and actually this one is one of the best sold models :-). Well that’s it for today! XOXO

Sturdy denim for a nursery

Hi guys. How are you? Here the normal life started again after the 6 weeks holiday the kids had. We had a lovely summer. The first weeks of our vacation we had great, sunny weather and the last few weeks a lot of rain. But I am one of the few people who loves rain, so it didn’t bother me at all and we did some nice indoor activities with the kids. Now are the kids back to school and that gives me some more time to work again and to be more present over here on the blog. Today I show you a moodboard for a nursery I made. A pretty personal one actually. I didn’t tell you yet, but soon I am going to be an aunt. Yeah! How nice is that? For years I am waiting for nieces and nephews for our kids and now the time has arrived. The due date is somewhere in the next month and I am so excited! I made two moodboards for the nursery (because I am not allowed to know if it’s a boy or girl ;-( ). The girly one is with all soft pink tones, grey & white and the other one is with denim tones and grey a more sturdy one for a boy. Here you see the boy’s version.
1 Harlequin wallpaper from Ferm Living via Femkeido. 2 Cushion from Hay via Emma B. 3 Wall lamp from Leitmotiv. 4 Whale from Ferm Living. 5 Stylish grey crib from Sebra. 6 Ceiling lamp from Studio Snowpuppe via Femkeido. 7 Kuruma wooden toy car in blue from the Japanese brand Kiko +. For kids over 4 years, but makes a great addition to the room as decoration.  8 Cushion from the Hema. 9 Felt storage basket from Hema. 10 Danish wooden elephant from Kaj Bojesen via Wannekes. 11 On every nursery door there has to be an original Studio Haikje name sticker don’t you think ;-)? 12 This Eames Plastic Chair from Vitra is a renewed versions of the legendary Fiberglass Chairs. The original, which was the very first industrially produced plastic chair, was jointly developed with Zenith Plastics for the‚ Low-Cost Furniture Design‘ competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art. In the current version made of polypropylene, these chairs are even more comfortable. I LOVE these chairs and many with me I believe. Well that’s it for today. Later on this week I will show you the girls' version, so hope to see you then. Have a lovely week you all! Let’s kick some ass with all our new regained energy form the holiday.

White & Wood nursery

It’s Friday already, time flies. Today I want to talk to you about nurseries & kids rooms. They tend to be sooo colorful and cheery. Well nothing is wrong with that, yet for me it doesn’t always has to be that bright and with 10 different colors in one room. It is also difficult to buy beautiful toys. I know it’s not for me but for my kids to play with… but it also has to lay in my living room, so some candy for the eyes wouldn’t be that wrong. Luckily you see more and more elegance in the current children’s rooms, so progress is being made. Here I show you some examples of what items I think would make a lovely nursery/children’s room. 1 Cute coathanger from Pakhuis Oost. 2 Simple but elegant dollhouse from Ferm Living. 3 This chair is from Piet Hein Eek’s beautiful collection children’s furniture. 4 Sleeping bag from Stokke. This is not really for the nursery itself, but also nice to have a good looking stroller standing in you hallway. 5 This Roedeer is an elegant addition to a kids room (via Designshoppen). 6 Wooden bed from the Dutch brand Warber. Not cheap but well made and a good design.

Pastel Blue

Pastel colors are still (very much) in the air. So I hope you will like this Pastel Blue moodboard for a kids room. 1 Baby jumpsuit from GoodMoodKid. Made from cotton with a little bit elastin so it’s very comfortable to wear! The cute print on it is from my hand :-), I designed a number of prints for this Dutch company. 2 Car from Floris Hovers. 3 Cute bed from Piet Hein Eek. 4 I like to place some “grown up” lamps in a nursery/kids room. It gives the whole look of the room a stylish finishing touch. This wooden lamp is from Muuto. 5 Meet Suki Mushroom from Donna Wilson. Made of 100% lambswool with polyester stuffing. Knitted in Scotland, made by hand. Suki loves opera and Scottish Whisky…

Different shades of soft blue

A new week has started and I hope it will be a great week! The sun is shining here in The Netherlands, so I am ready to welcome the spring. I start the week with a little inspiration for a nursery with some shades of soft blue. This nursery  moodboard has a little an old scool feeling but in an up to date way. 1 Always a great gift these creatures from Donna Wilson. She designs the most original and beautiful things. 2 Kristien Pilat is the daughter from furniture designer Gjalt Pilat and created her own collection wooden children furniture called Warber. Kristien Pilat's designs bear the stamp of her own personality: sturdy and austere from the outside, but at the same time fragile and poetic thanks to the Frisian names given to the products. This Highstool is named Lytse and I like the Scandinavian look of it. 3 Child's bed in plywood from Piet Hein Eek. I believe the furniture from Piet Hein Eek is almost always an eye catcher in your interior. 4 This lovely little coat rack from Pakhuis Oost would be a great detail in the nursery.

Modern Folklore

What do you think of this Modern Folklore Nursery moodboard? Maybe a little different than you expect from me, but I like it! I think I personally wouldn’t go that far to decorate my own nursery like this. Because for me the combination red & green is a little bit too intense to use in my interior (in my graphic work I do use it some times :-)). But for the people in this world for whom colors can’t be bright enough and who love to combine those bright colors I believe this would make a great nursery. The nursery has a little folklore feeling which makes it cosy,  warm & cheerful. 1 This dotted bird is a coat rack from Pakhuis Oost. 2 Lovely bird house from Miho design. 3 Cot from Piet Hein Eek. 4 Apple pillow from Oeuf NYC. 5 This Bambi is actually a lamp. 6 Green checkered blanket cover from Cottonbaby

Black Beauties

Black is my favourite “color”. I believe it is timeless, it combines with (almost) everything and I always wear black clothes (well often I do wear blue jeans, but with a black top on it and everything else that I wear is also black ;-)). When it comes to electronics I always choose for white. I have a white computer, a white cellphone etcetera. But back to the black. I know that too much black isn’t very desirable in a nursery or kids room, a little light for our babies is very welcome. But some beautiful black furniture or toys in combination with soft grey and white can give a very stylish effect! 1 This Swing King is designed by Ineke Hans and is from her collection Black Beauties :-). 2 This Norsu elephant is a money-box. Originally designed back in the 70's by Union Bank these little elephants were given out in order to encourage children to save. They are manufactured in exactly the same way as they were in the 1970's and are still made in the same factory in Finland. 3 I like Bearbricks and especially this black shiny one! 4 This beautiful bus from Playsam's Streamliner car series. This wooden toy is not only nice to play with but also an eye-cather in your cabinet! 5 When Fiene was still a baby I wanted a black onesie for her. After a long search I finally found one and it looked beautiful on her. This one is from N.L.Y. Kids from Nelly. 6 Cot Kili is from the Danish brand Sebra and it looks so sophisticated! The design is modern yet gives you a cosy feeling. Besides black it is also available in several other beautiful colors.

Fifties nursery

When I saw this cot on the worldwide web, I was immediately inspired to write a blog post about it. I love the fifties feel of it. So I decided to create a little moodboard for a modern nursery with a 50’s touch. Here it is, I hope you’ll like it! 1 Onesie from Dwell Studio. 2 Nootje (means “Nut” in Dutch) from Studio Ditte. 3 Letter sticker from my own collection interior stickers. Perfect to personalize a kids room! 4 Cut paper art from Ruralpearl. I love this artwork, it’s a real eye catcher! 5 Cot Niftyclear from Ubabub. Now your baby can see the world around them and you can keep an eye on them from afar. Nifty Clear combines the clean lines of the mid-century aesthetic with ubabub’s innovative clear acrylic sides. 6 Grey & white checkered play mat from Cottonbaby. 7 Soft little play cushion from the always inspirational Dutch Tas-Ka. The cushion is made of 100% cotton and you can wash it at 40°C in the washing machine. The cushion is nice to cuddle or you can use it as a small pillow. I also love it just as decoration!
