Moodboard

Because I believe that’s important to continue learning and keep developing yourself I’m taking the blog course Blog Boss from Holly Becker. It’s the second course I follow from her and I must say: that lady keeps on inspiring me. Each week we get homework and I (as befits a good student) try to finish that neatly in time :-). Last week the assignment was to show what your dream blog would like. So that gave me some stuff to think about. I like the look that my blog has, so I didn’t want to change very much there. But what I do need and may be handy for myself is a small survey of different categories for the content of my blog. So I created 5 categories & visualized a way to style them (big photos with little icons, small pictures in a collage, 6 photos neatly arranged, a lot of photos in a more playful layout, pictures with color swatches beneath them). The 5 categories are: Haikje's Home: About my personal life - Moodboards/collages: Inspiring products placed together in a moodboard/collage - Pinterest: 3 to 8 photo's from Pinterest which make together a beautiful blogpost - Designers/brands: About inspiring people or brands - Color palettes: Refreshing color palettes.
Above you can see how I visualized them, hope you'll like it!

Easter

My Easter decorations & cake were featured at the 101 Woonideeën blog! I like to see my photos popping up at other blogs (with the right credits of course ;-)) and was happy to see them at the wonderful 101 Woonideeën blog!

My work for Libelle

Proud to show you this article I wrote about shopping for your home in Roermond (city in the South of The Netherlands) for the Dutch magazine Libelle. Libelle is one of the largest women's magazines here in The Netherlands and they asked me if I wanted to select the nicest interior related shops in my hometown and write an article about them. Well sure I wanted to do that! The photo's are from the lovely photographer Margriet Hoekstra. I met her for the first time during this assignment, but we immediately had a "click". We spent a day photographing the shops and had a great time! For me also very informative to see a profesional photographer at work. Here you can see the end result (it's in Dutch). If you ever visit Roermond then take this article with you when you go shopping ;-), it's published in The Libelle Woonwinkelen March 2013.

Dreaming about vacation

It’s cold here in the Netherlands. Snow is not uncommon these days and the predictions for the weekend are ... more cold. So you can understand that I desire for a long & warm vacation. For instance in this beautiful hotel… Located on the French Riviera, right next to the Palais des Festivals and the Croisette, the Five Hotel & Spa Cannes. This 5-star boutique hotel features 45 rooms, half of which are suites. I keep on dreaming this weekend ;-)

Different shades of soft blue

A new week has started and I hope it will be a great week! The sun is shining here in The Netherlands, so I am ready to welcome the spring. I start the week with a little inspiration for a nursery with some shades of soft blue. This nursery  moodboard has a little an old scool feeling but in an up to date way. 1 Always a great gift these creatures from Donna Wilson. She designs the most original and beautiful things. 2 Kristien Pilat is the daughter from furniture designer Gjalt Pilat and created her own collection wooden children furniture called Warber. Kristien Pilat's designs bear the stamp of her own personality: sturdy and austere from the outside, but at the same time fragile and poetic thanks to the Frisian names given to the products. This Highstool is named Lytse and I like the Scandinavian look of it. 3 Child's bed in plywood from Piet Hein Eek. I believe the furniture from Piet Hein Eek is almost always an eye catcher in your interior. 4 This lovely little coat rack from Pakhuis Oost would be a great detail in the nursery.

Montana shelving system

Here you see a very small selection from the collection from the Danish company Montana. Montana produces shelving systems, tables, and chairs for homes and modern office environments. The flexible modular shelving system offers a lot of freedom to create your own personal cabinet, wardrobe… whatever you like. And besides that you can personalize the layout & size from your closet you can choose from 42!!! beautiful colors! So you can understand why I wrote at the beginning "very small selection from the collection"; the possibilities are endless with this shelving system. The system is designed by Peter J. Lassen, who also founded the company in 1982.

New color coming up...

I know it was a little bit quiet over here last week, I am sorry. But I was very busy with a photoshoot for my interior sticker collection. Soon we will add a beautiful new color to the collection and we were shooting photos for this. Here I give you a little sneak peak. You don't see the new stickers on the photos yet, because the new color is still a "little secret" ;-). What do you think the new color will be? Wish you all a happy & creative week!

Designer Jaime Hayon

I've always liked the work from Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon very much. So I thought that's about time to show some of it here. Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974. His work blurs the lines between art, decoration and design. He’s bringing back renaissance in finely-crafted, intricate objects within the context of contemporary design culture. I think his work always looks very beautiful in an almost simple way. His unique style was first fully exposed in ‘Mediterranean Digital Baroque’ at London’s David Gill Gallery, followed by many exhibitions and installations set up in major galleries and museums worldwide. His concern for the conservation of craft skills and his way of challenging design has led him to develop renowned work for 1 Fritz Hansen, 2 Baccarat3 Bisazza, 4 Metalarte, Bosa, La Terraza del Casino, Lladró, Magis, Established & Sons and Faberge among many others.
